Noctiluca (meaning 'night light' or 'phosphorescence') spent most of its life off the coast of the UK. It recently crossed the Atlantic from Europe to the Caribbean with the second owners, before sailing up the island chain to the East Coast of the US with the current (third) owners. It is on the hard in Deltaville, VA.

The Robert Perry designed Young Sun 35 is a full-keel, double-ended, heavy displacement vessel with the capability of taking its crew safely through all weather conditions and sea states. It is sea-kindly and remarkably dry, with the flare of the bow and the stern deflecting oncoming or following seas. The cutter rig helps balance the boat when going to windward and one can sometimes sail without touching the helm for lengthy periods (without the autopilot engaged); downwind one can fly the foresails wing on wing.

This vessel has several features that set it apart from similar boats:

  • Bowthruster
  • Fiberglass decks, with painted non-skid
  • New standing rigging (2021)
  • Whisker pole (2022)
  • Monitor Wind Vane
  • Schenker Water maker (30LPH)
  • 2 x Twinsel Solar Panels (680W)
  • ROCNA 25kg Anchor w/ 50m chain
  • Samsung Tablet w/ Navionics on mount
  • EPIRB
  • AIS
  • Butcher block counter tops in galley & head
  • New bottom paint (7/23)

If you are looking for a sturdy, compact, affordable cruising boat, ideal for a couple, this is an excellent choice. We can attest to its seaworthiness, having crossed the South Atlantic in a sister-ship in 2000. This particular boat needs some repairs which explains the reduced price, the boat is being sold "as is".

This vessel is foreign flagged & has been imported into the US, so is legally for sale in US Waters.

ACCOMMODATION

The teak bulkheads, trim and hull-liner and bronze portlights, along with the teak and holly floors, hearken back to a bygone era, when boat interiors were made of heavy timbers. The teak is offset with white headliner and light upholstery. There are strong, teak handholds overhead, for safety under way.

The galley is to port at the base of the companionway, with the nav station and chart table to starboard. The quarter berth doubles as a nav station seat; the batteries are housed beneath, with storage alongside.

The salon consists of an L-shaped settee to port with a solid wooden table slightly offset to port. The table has leaves that fold up to reach each settee and can lower to form a double berth. To starboard is a straight settee. There is storage below, behind and above each settee.

Forward of the salon is a vestibule with a hanging locker, with shelving above, to starboard and access to the head, to port. The head has a shower curtain that can be drawn around to save the whole compartment from getting wet.

The V-berth has a large bunk, drawers to starboard, storage cabinets along both hulls and under the berth, access to the chain locker at the foot of the bunk and a large hatch above the berth.
